Wal-Mart Gives Back

Wal-Mart of Mineral Wells last week gave Back Pack Buddies a $2,500 community grant that will provide two weekends’ worth of snacks for the approximately 300 local students being served each week. Palo Pinto County Farm Bureau donates to Back Pack Buddies

Palo Pinto County Farm Bureau recently provided a donation to Back Pack Buddies and Director Judy Jackson from proceeds raised through a Food Connection free hamburgers event at the Expo Center where donations were accepted. Also pictured are Farm Bureau directors Richard Singleton, Bill Hinkson, Gary Glover, Ernie Herron and Greg Gilbert and Farm Bureau agency manager Brandon Sims. In all, $2,100 in donations were donated to four area non-profits. Thank you, Palo Pinto County Farm Bureau, for supporting Back Pack Buddies.

Rotary Club Backs BPB

Rotary Club of Mineral Wells is a proud backer of Back Pack Buddies, the local non-profit organization that provides food on Fridays to students to eat over a weekend so that they have enough – or in extreme cases something – to eat before returning to school on Monday. Zonta Club

Thank you to Zonta Club of Mineral Wells. Thank you for your hospitality last week when you invited me to speak about Back Pack Buddies. Your generous donation of the revenue from Bowls of Love will be a great help in our effort to eliminate childhood hunger in our community. We sincerely appreciate your support.

Palo Pinto General Hospital

A great big thank you goes to the PPGH's Transformer OASIS team for hosting aMardi Gras Soup & Chili cook off to benefit Back Back Buddies. There were lot of good cooks and a lot of great food. they raised enough money to supply weekend food to 200 students. Great job! We appreciate your support.

Suddenlink

Suddenlink conducted a food drive for Back Pack Buddies, offering incentives for its customers to make a donation to the organization that each week is providing weekend food supplies to 245 children to ensure they don't go hungry. As you can see, the food drive was a big success. Women’s Bible Class of First Presbyterian Church

The Women’s Bible Class of First Presbyterian Church of Mineral Wells made a donation to assist the Back Pack Buddies program, which provides weekend food for students who might otherwise go hungry. Each week, volunteers pack a bag of food and school counselors discretely give them to students. A $12 donation pays the cost of supporting one student for a month, or a $120 donation provides for one student for the entire school year. The program currently feeds 182 students each week. Rotary Club of Mineral Wells

Judy Jackson, center, of Back Pack Buddies, was guest speaker at the Sept. 16, 2015, Rotary Club of Mineral Wells meeting. She told Rotarians about the organization's mission of making sure no local child goes without enough to eat over a weekend and how the project is a community-wide effort. Rotarians made Back Pack Buddies its matching grant recipient and presented Jackson with a $3,000 check, with hopes of donating more in the future. Also, club members packed a weekend's worth of food bags that week for more than 200 children at Wes-Tex Vending.
