Donald Owens is the music director for First United Methodist Church of Mineral Wells.

Donald came to the church from Turnagain United Methodist Church in Anchorage, Alaska, where he served as choirmaster and organist from 2008-2011. Before that, he was the assistant organist at First United Methodist Church in Fort Worth from 1972-1974.

He has also worked for the American Guild of Organists. He is a 1972 graduate of Richland High School in North Richland Hills, a suburb of Fort Worth. He studied pipe organs at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth with Emmett Smith.

He received his first organ position at the age of 15 and has served as a church organist in Texas, Arizona and Alaska. He has performed concerts throughout the United States.

In addition to serving as a church organist, Donald is a former organist for the Texas Rangers baseball team. He has also been a keyboardist in a jazz ensemble and rock bands as well as performing solo concerts.

He worked for three years as dean of the Anchorage chapter of the American Guild of Organists.

BLENDED MUSIC

CHANCEL CHOIR

HANDBELL CHOIR

Beautiful music at First United Methodist Church isn't played just on piano, organ or guitar, performed by the church choir or sung by the congregation.

It also comes from in the form of music played by the church's handbell choir, led by Adam Hull. Using traditional handbells, a holiday season would not be complete with the precise and unique tones coming from this musical group. Watching and listening to them perform is a sensory feast for the eyes and ears.
